Hummingbird (OTHER Observations)

Date: 07/02/2023

Number: 1

From what I can observe the heat dome over Houston has slowed down the male rubythroats stragling in, thru by this time. It's always first week of July. In 2022 We had 4 males, one juevenille rubythroat at feeders and porterweeds. Temperatures got up into over 110 heat index for 3 weeks. Just now getting back to normal daily of low 90's and rains expected from now on.
Our porterweeds, purple
salvias, Hamelias, coral honeysuckle vines are stressed. Plants just send out stems with blossoms barely opening. However three potted Justica Mexican orange honeysuckles are taking off well blooming.
Any glass hummingbird feeder just cooks with heat, hot to touch. Switched to plastic feeders.

Concerned for male rubythroats, but do see them fueling at feeders in y'alls reports.
