Monarch Egg (FIRST sighted)
Sightings report image

Date: 07/07/2023

Number: 15

I noticed a patch of milkweed, 1-2 feet tall, growing across the road from my property in a lawn that was soon to be mowed! The owner of the property comes to mow the seasonal place, once a week.

I checked the plants and found the 15 eggs. I plucked them all and intend to raise them to the fat caterpillar stage to release on my swamp or common milkweed.

The yard was mowed the next day!

I now know that a female monarch has been around and I probably have eggs on the milkweed growing near our woodland ponds. I have not found them yet! So far this season I have not seen adult monarchs. So, I was glad to find these eggs.
