I had another very brief encounter (similar to my sighting on 7/2/2023) with a Monarch Butterfly this afternoon about 3:50 PM (EDT). I first glanced it as it darted behind a forsythia bush near some of the common milkweed plants in our backyard. As I walked around the forsythia, the butterfly flew up and away across our neighbor’s yard to the east and disappeared into the trees on the far side. No chance of getting a photo.
Weather wise at this time the temperature was 82°F and still rising, the dew point was 59°F and slowly dropping, the humidity was 45% and dropping, there was a light 5 mph from the WNW, and the air pressure was 28.52 inches and dropping under partly cloudy skies.
