Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 07/11/2023

Number: 1

First sighting for me this year. A large very strong flying Monarch hovering over one of my m/weed patches in very late afternoon. Judging from its rich coloration & fast flying, it appeared to me to be in its prime. By the time I got my camera, it was done hovering and flew off. For the length of my observation, it did not appear to land on any plant for time to ovit, my guess it could have been a male, but from the size I can't be sure. Going to check for eggs in any event! For the last few years, my first sightings have been a month earlier, so I am very happy to see this guy after all the rain we had!
