I saw the following in the gardens at Biltmore Estate: 1 male ruby throat feeding from bee balm, a female or juvenile feeding from salvia, another female feeding from ironweed, and a female or juvenile feeding from crocosmia flowers. The crocosmia was growing next to a patch of bee balm and a male hummer was guarding the area. He chased the other hummer away and perched above the flowers, continuing his sentinel duty.
