I was eating dinner and looking through the window at my garden. After rain here over the past two days, I have seen the most butterflies of the season today, now that skies are clearing from the storms. I noticed a monarch fly into my garden, flying veo quickly from Plant to plant and never landing, but sort of skimming the tops of many different plants. By the time I got outside, I could no longer see the butterfly flying around the garden. I wanted for a few seconds and then saw the monarch fly upwards out of a patch of whorled milkweed! She made one full circle around me standing there, and then fluttered away over the fence. I went to look at the milkweed, and was surprised to quickly spot a bright white, newly laid egg! My first monarch egg in my native plant garden!
