Robin (OTHER Observations)

Date: 07/17/2023

Ok, we do not have a game cam set up but the nest we are currently observing is close enough to our dining room window that with binoculars we get a pretty good ‘Birds Eye’ view. I should have been keeping a calendar of observations but alas I did not. First, these babies, there are three, were being fed chopped up worms before thy were five days old, not regurgitated. We have watched the male sit on the nest numerous times, not nearly as long as the mom but he has sat on the babies a few times.and it is him as they are easy to tell apart. The babies are now eating pretty whole worms and have some feather fuzz and I just witnessed dad eat a fecal sac. Given I have read the babies are fed regurgitated for the first five days or so, dad doesn't baby sit hatchlings, and only in the early days will a parent eat a fecal sac - my observations seem to counter those assumptions?
