Monarch Waystation #271 reports finding 5 third instar monarch larvae in the front large bed about 9 am this morning. One was feeding on small leaves near a tropical milkweed's flower buds [pictured], 3 were resting on the undersides of another tropical milkweed, and one was seen resting on a purple milkweed leaf. They were found while walking to the parking lot and back inside, no thorough search for more larvae were done. There were small to medium feeding signs seen on other nearby milkweed leaves but not the larvae themselves. There were also many bees and wasps enjoying surrounding flowers, so I hope the larvae make it to adulthood.
