Poor quality photo (sorry, it was across the fence) of adult monarch on Baldwin’s ironweed plant in a small oak grove around 8 PM at Daphne Prairie, TX. I say monarch because I did not see the diagonal line on the wing that the viceroy has on this particular butterfly. I spotted another distinct monarch in a different small oak grove maybe 50-100 yards east of this grove at around the same time of day but was unable to get a photo. Milkweed is present in the pasture surrounding the oak groves but they seem to like the ironweed as well. (Popular also with swallowtails.)
