Poor quality photo of one monarch butterfly taking an interest in Baldwin’s ironweed at Daphne Prairie, TX. (Specimen was across the fence from me so I had to zoom in a lot.) Photo taken around 7:15 PM; this patch of ironweed is in a shaded oak grove located within a larger pasture that contains milkweed. Butterfly does not have the black diagonal across the hindwing that the viceroy has.
