We counted at least 10 monarch butterflies in our backyard in the North Kildonan area of Winnipeg this morning. In our yard, their favourite nectar source is meadow blazing star (Liatris ligulistylis). They also like our Buenos Aires verbena (Verbena bonariensis) and butterfly bush (Buddleia davidii). In the last couple of days we've seen two pairs mating.
