One of 2 male rubythroats in photo. This one is a sub adult getting spots on throat with short tail.
I did see the other adult skinny male outback yesterday as reported, and briefly this morning. Flying over fence to corral honeysuckle while on feral cat watch. And they do tweet a lot early morning around 7 a.m. when I first go out. So this explains the nervousness of fast feeder feeding, looking around. No chasing yet.
I do believe there was a nest in vicinity is why I'm still seeing more than one rubythroat since July 7th. We do see adult male returns last day of July trailing in past years.
