It’s hard to see monarch butterfly that had alit on a milkweed plant. I saw at least 10 monarch butterflies. Two were mating. Others were flying around or landing briefly on a milkweed plant.

I was glad to see the monarchs, usually abundant in this nature preserve, but only spotted this week. We had had drought conditions until recently and when it started raining more and more milkweed plants showed up.
