Milkweed, both common and swamp was planted several years ago in our deer protected gardens. The plants are doing well so long as deer are kept away from it.

My sad comment today is that there are no monarchs at all so far this year. At this time last year, when the milkweed was in full bloom, we had several monarchs visit. Indeed it was not uncommon to see 5 monarchs at once. This year, we have none.
