Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 07/29/2023

Number: 3

This is my first time reporting!
We have had a lot of Monarch activity over the last 2-3 days! I was sitting on our deck yesterday afternoon (we live on a lake) and a few Monarchs were flying back and forth in front of my deck, and up under my deck. Our milkweed plants are on both sides of our home, so they were flying between the plants. Around 3 p.m I witnessed the aerial mating "dance." About a half hour later a female fluttered by my deck with a male attached, and what I assume was another male chasing them. Once he realized they were bonded, he flew back to the milkweed next to my house. The bonded couple landed in my neighbors tree. It was exciting to witness! I did not get any pictures, as it happened quickly.
