Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 07/30/2023

Number: 13

We swam through nasty weeds, reeds and thistle to get to the Russian Olive Trees. We thought for sure they would be resting in the shade of the trees. But when we finally got there, nothing- no monarchs. I even circled those trees trying to a rise out of them.

As we headed back we spotted them in the tall reeds next to the road. They would flutter up for a quick second and then land in the reeds. So we just walked along the road and spotted 13. Once we were lucky enough to see 2 monarchs twirling together for a hot minute, before the retreated to the shade.

Needless to say it was a hot, 99 degree morning. Bright sun, no breeze. Along a fairly busy road.
