While returning from another sighting of common milkweed I happened to look down the side of a steep hill as I was walking back to my car and I noticed some milkweed behind a furniture store in a shopping plaza. I walked down, around the store to the back where I encountered maybe fifty stems of common milkweed at the foot of a hill. All of the the plants looked quite healthy and budded, ready to bloom. however they were about half as tall as a normal milkweed. I talked to a store employee on break and he said that the area had been mowed in early spring. If I get the courage I may try to contact the corporate headquarters of the company to see if they have any environmental policies or inclinations.
