This has been a wonderful year for the monarch's so far. We are seeing a good number (and we've hatched about 15) so far. We've seen multiple butterfly's a day coming around to our milkweed plants, and also observed when driving around.
Our first generations were the first of June and the hatched ones were later in June. We are on the second generation now, hopefully, getting ready for the last generations before they migrate.
We have put the baby caterpillars into cages to protect them with milkweed, plants and leaves. This gives a better rate of success than in nature.
We have common milkweed, butterfly milkweed, and swamp milkweed.
