Monarch, Captive-Reared

Date: 07/24/2023

Number: 30

Collected 20 cats six have died.
Gulf Fritillary outnumber the monarchs four to one, as do the sulfur butterflies. There is a tremendous amount of spiders this year like no other. And a surprising lack of aphids, like never before. Although we have three monarchs in our yard, either front or back yard all day, they have to fight for the territory. Two cats were taken off a common milkweed and my narrow leaf was gone in one day.
Still a lot of Tropical and goldenrod available. While taking in my trash can I found a chrysalis on the can. I can't believe it withstood the pounding of the dump truck as it emptied the can into the truck. it looks nice and Green.
