This sighting is only one of 4 I have spotted in the Portsmouth to Hampton Beach area this year. We have had so much rain in June and July, that it may have effected the monarch breeding. A woman in Rye has had several caterpillars and one crysalis last week, so there is still hope that monarchs are around the seacoast.
