I have both swamp milkweed and butterflyweed and have only seen one monarch on April 1st . The past 3 years, I have had monarchss lay eggs and have watched monarch emerge from the chrysalis. Last year, on one clump of swamp milkweed, the caterpillars died of what I could only know as black death. Perhaps that is why they haven't returned? Should I destroy that area of milkweed? I have been unable to find the answer to that question. All my plants look healthy...
