Monarch Larva Sighted

Date: 08/06/2023

Number: 10

Watched female monarch lay fresh eggs today on this bluevine (Cynanchum leave) @waystation7576. While looking for the eggs, there were several first instars found on the bluevine leaves as well. I understand now that this plant is a type of milkweed within the same family (Apocyanaceae) as Asclepius. I do have fresh eggs and instars on the common milkweed @waystation7576 also. But the monarch instars seem to be doing okay eating the bluevine. I will post this also on the “instar” sightings. Great Monarch Blitz time in Southeast Virginia!
