This morning my wife and I headed out in search of Monarchs and Milkweeds for the 2023 Blitz. Our plan was to visit various locations in the Bellefonte and State College area where we know there are Milkweeds and where in the past we have occasionally spotted Monarch Butterflies. (In contrast, in recent weeks, we have seen very few Monarch Butterflies and no Eggs, Caterpillars, or Frass as evidence of their presence.)
Our third stop was an undeveloped area along I-99 just south of the exchange with I-80. It has areas of Common Milkweed.
At about Noon (EDT) the air temperature was 79°F, the air pressure was 28.65 inches and slowly dropping, the dew point was 64°F, the humidity was 61%, with a light 7 mph breeze blowing from the southwest under partly cloudy skies.
