we intended to include three individual sites here, but now days after close of Monarch Monitoring week, we will combine as a single entry for all observations surrounding the town of Winslow park at the town offices and the gazebo:
A. along paved path with false stone retaining wall from Winslow town office parallel to Benton Ave where narrow strip of weedy soil has been trimmed repeatedly since June - 7 tiny stems again emerging with 4-10 leaves only and no taller than 10 inches.
B. on the steep slope between the hilltop gazebo and the paved walking trail leading to 2 cent bridge perhaps 75 stems all separate from each other.
C. west of the paved walking path and between path and road to the old paper mill and probably growing on imported gravelly fill perhaps 120 plants maturing, yellowing, dropping leaves, and probably too dry to support monarch larvae. (another dozen stems mowed earlier today).
