Saw the most Monarchs ever at our typical staging area. 6 PM, 70F with east wind at 5. Approximate roosts of 400, 250, 250, 250, 200, 100, 100, 100. There was another 200 or so roosting on the prairie remnant adjoining the Cottonwood grove. Roosts seem early this year and also seem to be forming in late afternoon as opposed to evening. Blooming today are Meadow blazing star, Maximillian sunflower and Virginia mountain mint.
Have alerted my cameraman friend, John. Hope he will be able to come here and get some shots soon.
