Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 07/23/2023

Number: 1

I was running a race in Merrimack, New Hampshire, and I saw a lone milkweed in the median of the highway. There was a single adult monarch landing on it. I was running, so I couldn’t tell if it was laying eggs, but there were no flowers, so I don’t think it was eating. I wanted so badly to go back and take a picture but hundreds of people were running and I didn’t want to get trampled. I do hope that that median isn’t mowed if the butterfly was laying eggs.
