We have been watching epic battles between two female ruby throats. They nectar on the patio and we can see and hear the body slams. They are actually improving their battle strategy. One nectars like crazy until the other attacks. The first doesn't flee as readily. She now drops into another plant and hovers while hiding. The attacker is relentless. They exhibit impressive flight maneuvers and disappear briefly, then they go right back at it. This photo is of the attacker resting between battles.
