Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 08/15/2023

Number: 360

6:30 PM, 83F, wind SW 7. Roosts of 10,20,30 and 300. Warm and breezy day here, Monarchs were very selective in finding roost sites out of the wind. I have been watching fall roosts for years now in the same, mainly Cottonwood tree grove. Certain trees and bushes are used year after year and some trees never seem to have a roost. Meadow and Rough blazing star are still strong, Joe pye weed is abundant in the low areas and Goldenrod is getting good color.
