Monarch Waystation #271 reports finding 3 monarch larvae at 5:01 pm resting on or near one of the potted Tropical milkweeds on the front patio. Two larvae [a 4th and 5th instar each] are shown in the photo on the milkweed. The other larva resting on a nearby signpost next to the pot was another 4th instar. By 5:15 pm, the 4th instar seen here on the leaf had shed its skin to become a small 5th instar, while the signpost larva remained a resting 4th instar. The 3rd [5th instar] larva had moved off out of sight by then. Weather at the nearby airport was sunny, with clear skies, temperature ~87 degreesF with a heat index of 95 degrees.
