Monarch Larva Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 08/20/2023

Number: 3

found three 1st instar larvae on both showy and narrowleaf. Eggs were laid in the yard three days last week, and I bet these were laid THursday.

I had collected several of the others that were in imminent danger of being squashed by people or dog traffic.
This sighting does not include those, some of which are on to 2nd instar.

Always nice to see some eggs manage to hatch before being eaten. These three are on isolated plant sprouts. We’ll see if they escape the predators unscathed.
