Hummingbird (OTHER Observations)

Date: 08/21/2023

Number: 1

7:35 a.m. Male rubythroat in back tried to drink from ant mote hung for little sipper feeder. We are using plastic feeders only bc glass heats up sugar water in this higher heat index faster. Moved plastic walmart feeder out from under umbrella.

Time to watch/notice. We had more males coming in at this time last year.

The record high was 108 degrees yesterday in that you felt suffocating if stepping outside. Nuts afternoon heat to bend over giant red inground Hamelias. But doesn't bother two potted 'Lime Sizzler' Hamelias.
Potted, and in ground Black and blue salvias are doing ok.

Umbrella is working to have cooler feeders hung under for this years ridiculous heat. Sugar water is not spoiling as fast.
