Hummingbird, Nectaring from Flowers
Sightings report image

Date: 08/22/2023

Number: 5

Adult male, molting affectionately known as Motley.
He is busy guarding the flowers and feeders from interlopers, or juvies. Once he has chased them off, he sometimes stops for a sip of nectar. This is Mexican sunflower, tithonia, which grows like a weed in the heat. It's about 6 feet tall right now.

My best time of day for photos seems to be between 5-6pm.
