My ruby throats have increased their sugar water consumption from a quart every three days to a quart every two days. There is more chasing and squabbling over the feeders. I have spotted five mature males, one immature male, and the rest are all females or juveniles. One of the feeders in my front yard is being guarded by one of the males with great dedication. He is often challenged by another male but always drives him off. Another feeder on my deck in the back yard is being guarded by another of the males, but he isn't as aggressive. The other feeders don't seem to be dominated by any single bird.
