Hummingbird (OTHER Observations)

Date: 08/26/2023

Number: 12

We have had unusually high numbers of young Ruby-throated Hummingbirds visiting our feeders for the past month. I'm going through half a gallon or more of nectar a day to keep them filled up and not fermented. There are occasionally obvious adult males, but they may just be young that have gotten their adult feathers in early. Most of the birds only have a few of their red throat feathers in, most look to be in good shape. I've only seen a few who looked rough, like their feathers were extremely ruffled or were molting.
