male patrolling again by 8:30 (I’m the late riser).

Worn-looking female laying eggs slowly starting arounf 9:30. The male didn’t chase her. SHJe would stop and perch in the sun for a minute or two before continuing, even thoiugh it was already about 80 F. I got the impression it might be her last ovipositing before expiring.

All day since a male has been patrolling and chasing off one or more persistent males.
