I saw one monarch butterfly in my milkweed patch in my garden.
About two weeks ago, I cut down all my milkweed. A whole new patch is coming back. I never had that happen last year.

Then last week I started seeing monarch butterflies. Always just one, but every day for about 4 days going from one milkweed plant to the next.

This week I started finding their caterpillars on the milkweed. It is a repeat of this spring.

I thought the butterflies only laid their eggs in the spring.

So far I have taken 25 caterpillars into captivity. This is my first year at trying this.

I would appreciate any information you can give me.
