Hummingbird, Nectaring from Flowers

Date: 08/27/2023

Number: 1

Monarch Waystation #271 reports sighting a large hummingbird, with no obvious tail spots, nectaring on the following blooms in the front yard: orange Tithonia, then yellow+red Tropical Milkweed, then Lady-in-Red Salvia, then gone. Time was 6:20 pm, when the sun's angle from the west makes it hard to pick out field marks. It may have had a dusky throat but this could also be a shadow cast by the flower. The hummer returned about 1 minute later to nectar again at the Tropical milkweeds a few seconds and left.
