Monarch Waystation #271 reports sighting 3 monarch larvae scattered in the front and back beds several times during the day. Two were 5th instars in the front beds; one fed on Purple milkweed, the other on Swamp milkweed [pictured]. The third larva was the one 4th instar seen earlier in the day in the back bed. When checked later it had shed to become a new [and hungry] 5th instar feeding on Swamp milkweed.
