Hummingbird, Nectaring from Flowers

Date: 08/29/2023

Number: 2

The East Zone of my yard contains three hummingbird feeders and a variety of flowers. A male hummingbird was trying to monopolize everything and did visit zinnias and Salvia microphylla "Hot Lips" in addition to the feeder on the roof that I was watching. As he monitored the area, a juvenile or female snuck into a Salvia microphylla plant that was growing through the railing and nectared on several flowers before the male spotted it and gave chase. One or the other of the birds also nectared on yellow jewelweed. I strongly suspect that they also visited some trailing nasturtiums that hang down from the roof where I can't monitor them, but the hummingbirds did seem to be heading to and from them.
