My first monarch sighting at the ACU campus for 2023. Nectaring at Gregg’s blue mist in the pollinator garden behind the Hunter Welcome Center. Temp in the 90s, low wind. Gardens are struggling with drought, so available nectar flowers are more sparse than usual. These include Turks cap, flame acanthus, and blue mist. There is some some showy milkweed, but historically the monarchs have not paid that much attention. It rarely blooms. The only other butterflies I saw today were skippers.
