Chisholm Creek Park in Wichita, KS
I and a group of about 10-12 other people were on a a guided Wildflower Walk in the Park this evening from 6pm until 7:15 pm. I saw at least 10 adult Monarchs during this time. Most of the Monarchs were nectaring on Tall Thistle, but one was on Button Bush.
Common Sunflower is starting to bloom. Swamp Milkweed has flowered and is in decline.
There was no particular directional flight. No noticeable wind.
I walk this park most mornings and will start checking for roosts.
