The ruby throats are now consuming a quart of sugar water every two days. I've counted four mature males, two immature males and the rest are females or unsexed immature birds. Three of the mature males are guarding their selected feeder aggressively. One actually is alternating defending two separate feeders near each other.The fourth mature male keeps trying to take one of the feeders on my porch but always gets driven off by the male who currently holds it. He does successfully visit it whenever the current owner's back is turned. One of the juvenile males is quite bold and flies in close to check me out whenever I sit on the deck.
