Monarch Larva Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 09/04/2023

Number: 4

We've seen very few Monarchs this year but had a female and a male hanging around our flowers and common milkweed about a week to 10 days ago. We have lots of common milkweed and Butterfly weed ( Tuberosa) but both types milkweed tough and blighted at this time of year. After ensuring no larvae present I cut our tuberosa to the ground about a month ago. New plant growth has occurred from where a tuberosa plant was cut and I found caterpillars this morning. Don't understand what generation adult Monarchs produced these larvae.
