Monarch Larva Sighted

Date: 09/04/2023

Number: 2

I planted milkweed several years ago and it is very hardy here… earlier this summer (July and August) I saw 4 or 5 monarchs, lots of swallowtails and others (i planted butterfly bush and other similar plants to attract pollinators).

I got so excited to see monarch caterpillars, 2 at this point, feeding on the milkweed. I read up on them at this stage and I think they are at the 4th or 5th instar?

I will monitor to see how they progress and i hope it is to the chrysalis stage.

A friend who has written books about pollinators told me about your website and reporting so here’s mine!
