Monarch Adult Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 09/06/2023

Number: 7

We have had at least 7 Monarchs emerge this morning in our Common Milkweed 'forest' that has taken over our former kitchen garden. The plants are 3-5' tall and have suffered through too much rain this year. Many of the leaves have turned black and then fallen, and almost all of the chrysalises were on these crispy black leaves. I observed one chrisalis on a Rhubarb leaf and another on a Wild Violet (Viola sororia)! Attaching picture of two on the stressed Milkweeds, getting ready to fly off.
