We noticed a few eggs laid on one plant and assumed that she only laid them on the one plant since there were at least six, but upon inspecting our other plants after those eggs hatched today, we found another plant with 7 more caterpillars 1st instar. They must have all been laid around the same time and we didn’t see the mother. So she must have gone on her way afterwards. We usually have many milkweed in the yard but the drought and heat prevented a larger milkweed waystation.
