Hummingbird Sighting
Sightings report image

Date: 09/07/2023

Number: 8

Throughout our region in the Davis Mountains we get 18 different species during migration. Today, at the Nature Center, it was a continuous battle of claiming one's Anisacanthus (hummingbird bush) and keeping other's away. Fortunately, we have many of these shrubs, along with Tecoma stans (Yellowbells, Esperanza), Turks Cap and Lantana -- all native plants. Today's species were Black-chinned, male and female, and several male Rufous Hummingbirds.
