Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/09/2023

Number: 20

We are in the annual feeding frenzy of Ruby-Throated Hummingbirds! Up to 12 birds will cluster at their favorite feeder among the four we provide. In the evening, we can hold a feeder for an extended period of time to feel the amazing “air conditioning” of their wings.

Today my son saw a white-spotted bird, which we are guessing is a piebald. This is a first for us!

Currently on site are adult males, adult females, and juveniles - but we know the southern migration is about to begin. We will miss our beautiful and energetic friends over the winter months.
