Monarch PEAK Migration
Sightings report image

Date: 09/09/2023

Number: 14

There were more monarchs feeding on my zinnias this morning than usual so I started watching the sky where their migratory path usually is. Sure enough, I started seeing monarchs flying over my house from northeast to southwest. Some were popping over my roof at about 25 feet high, some were about 50 feet up, and a couple were at 100 feet plus. Many monarchs were feeding on my zinnias and resting in trees. I watched from 11:15 to 11:45 am and saw 14 monarchs. They were flying individually. It was 69 degrees F, the wind was 3 mph NNE, and blue skies with big puffy clouds. I can’t wait to watch again tomorrow!
