Ruby throated hummingbird nectaring on Salvia x Waverly. Lobelia craze is now gone. Salvia x Waverly and Salvia leucantha cultivars (Bicolor, Danielle's Dream, Santa Barbara and White Mischief) are in vogue. We have planted a couple of these every 20ft in protected locations so they can survive some frosts. Birds are also visiting Elsholtzia stauntonii (Chinese mint shrub), Vernonia noveborescenses (New York ironweed), Silphium laciniatum (cup plant variant) along with staples.
